Your E-book Sales & Royalties
St. Paul Press has recently completed preparing its titles for
distribution via multiple e-book retailers, including Amazon Kindle,
Barnes & Noble Nook, Apple iPad, Sony Reader and Kobo. As you may
already know, it does not take as much work to prepare and distribute
e-books, so this translates into lower retail prices for the e-book
buyers and higher royalty rates for e-book authors.
St. Paul Press' e-book royalty rates are as follows: We will pay all
authors 50% of the percentage we receive when books are sold through an
e-book distributor. The proceeds that St. Paul Press receives will vary
based on the sales outlet, and the method of the e-book sale. For
example, if your e-book costs $9.99, and a sale is made through Amazon
Kindle (Kindle pays St. Paul Press 35%), St. Paul Press will receive
$3.49, and the author will receive
50% of that, which is $1.74. (Amazon has stated recently that they will
begin to pay authors and publishers 70% for Kindle e-book sales.)
If you disagree with the amount of payment for e-books from St. Paul
Press, please contact us and share with us your concerns. If we do
not hear from you within ten days from the date of this e-mail, we
will assume that this royalty percentage would be okay with you,
and we will add an
addendum to the non-exclusive
publishing agreement outlining this change.
Also, over the next few months, we will be adding the FlipViewer e-book
version of your book to your site as well as to our e-book store.
You can sell this version of your e-book directly from your site and
keep all of the profits (providing you have a PayPal account). This is
an e-book service that we produce and own. We will be selling this
e-book version at a lower price, so that we can have an advantage over
the major retailers. We would suggest that you do the same, but you are
free to set whatever price you would like on your FlipViewer e-book
that is sold on your website.
If you have
any questions, or if we can be of further assistance to you,
please e-mail us at stpaul@stpaulpresspublishers.com.
Announcement
Regarding Royalty Payments
All
royalty checks were sent out last week. If you were expecting a royalty
check and did not receive one, please let us know. If you have any
questions about your royalty check, please feel free to contact us at: stpaul@stpaulpresspublishers.com.
This week, St. Paul Press is sending royalty checks to its authors for
sales made from February 1, 2010 through May 31, 2010. Some checks have
already been sent out and all checks should be sent out by Monday. When
we first began
sending royalty payments to authors, we believed that it would be best
to send payments at the end of each month. However, we have found out,
probably due to the recession,
that it is economically better to send out royalty checks every three
months, for the following reason: Sending checks every quarter gives
time for book sales to build up so that we can send our authors a
larger check than we would be able to if we continued to send payments
each month.
If you disagree with this and you still want to receive your checks
once a month, regardless of the size, we can do that for you. If we do
not hear from you within ten days from the date of this e-mail, we
will assume that this change would be okay with you, and we will
add an addendum to the non-exclusive
publishing agreement outlining this change.
Please feel free to contact
us if you have
any further questions, or if we can be of further assistance to you
regarding this matter.

Get the Hell Out!
by Bishop L.W. Francisco III
After twenty-three years in
ministry, I have a passion to see the body of Christ experience what I
believe is the right of every believer, and that is to live an abundant
life in the here and now. The fact of the matter is, God wants His
children to live an abundant life and He actually gives us the tools or
the keys to make it happen. It's simply called a 'Kingdom mentality'.
Now, for the purpose of this book, I won't go into a deep theological
explanation of a Kingdom mentality. I am not trying to impress anyone
with my prowess of scriptural interpretation. I simply want to share
with you how to live an abundant life starting RIGHT NOW!
I intentionally made this book a short read so that you can read it
over and over and allow the principles contained therein to saturate
your mind and heart. If you are fed up with "Hell" living in and
occupying your mind, now is the time to stand up and boldly proclaim,
GET THE HELL OUT!

Writing Tips from C.S. Lewis
Donald L. Hughes
In 1959 an American
schoolgirl wrote to C. S. Lewis asking him for advice on the craft of
writing. He sent her a list of eight rules, and I add my own editorial
comments to each of them.
1. Turn off the radio.
Today, writers also need to turn off the TV, the iPod or the music
streaming over the Internet. I know that some writers claim that
background sounds enhances their creativity, but I don't believe
it for a minute, and apparently Lewis didn't either. Writing is a
solitary activity, where words are formed in a special space of the
brain, and anything that competes for that space will result in a
decrease in writing quality. Good writers are able to be alone with
their thoughts and don't need filler or distractions.

Work from Rest: An
Important Concept for a Writer
Lisa Bergren
Brothers and Sisters,
I've been reading your words about throwing in the towel, frustrations
over writing, success, mentoring, etc. We're pulled in so many
directions as writers and sometimes as would-be marketers or mentors.
Some of you know that I took a hiatus from writing for several years,
because God called me to a "fallow season," and at a time that it
seemed crazy to do so, I obeyed. I didn't write
anything--anything!--for three plus years. I didn't miss it at all. And
when I sensed he was giving me the okay to resume, I had some of the
richest writing to do...books I loved writing.

Advantage of an eBook
to Authors
Ken McCormick
Authors looking to find a
new or bigger audience are using online eBooks more and more to market
their work. They are often distributed at no charge by the author.
eBooks have become a tool for authors who have had difficulty getting
their books printed in the competitive world of publishing. Traditional
publishers are highly selective in what they publish and numerous
factors are considered when deciding what they will print.
